About

It has been five years since this version of FriendlyStock launched and a lot has happened in that time. What started as a lockdown project it turned into something that helped people get through those dark times, encouraged friendships and feuds and hopefully some fun.

But now… FriendlyStock will be changing, and the current version will be retired. The new version will be completely different, dare I say it will be fairer, at least that is the intent.

The concept is a real-time, multiplayer economic simulation where players run food/drink stalls across dynamic locations, competing for customers using pricing, staffing, stock management, advertising, and strategy.

The idea comes from two things. 45 years ago there was a tiny program written for the ZX81 computer in a computer magazine called Lemonade. It was very basic, but addictive. About 10 years later I started a market stall selling pet food. I met lots of amazing people on the market, made some good friends and made a living until I had to sell the business due to ill health.

So I’ve taken the best bits of these and some of the ethos of FriendlyStock and turned it into a game for you all.

You will be able to chat with other players in the location of your store. In fact this will be encouraged with bonuses for chatting. What you talk about is up to you. Strategy, Price Fixing, the weather… whatever you want. You will of course be able to have multiple stores if you wish.

You will also be able to choose 5 friends as favourites, with whom you can chat with privately one on one. What you talk about there is up to you!

There will also be the possibility of some inter-player trading of stock.

The big change is that buying credits will no longer be possible. There will be a simple Pro version for just £5 per month. The Pro version will afford some benefits, but it won’t be the more you pay the more chances you have. It will basically just be something that helps us keep the lights on and makes the game a little easier.

The game is meant to be fair and a level playing field in as much as you can't buy success by spending more money than anyone else.

We hope you enjoy playing.
